Formally created in 2007, the Montreal-based BPP Music and Fine Arts was founded by two long-time committed educators in instrumental music, composition and theory, and music technology. BPP Music Therapy started in 2013 by an accredited music therapist with the goal of improving quality of life for people with special needs. 

Kevin Austin, President

Professor (Fine Arts, Concordia University), composer, teacher, theorist / writer, producer, arts administrator. His life has been one of connecting sounds together. To do this he has used traditional and electroacoustic compositions and sounds. Kevin Austin has been teaching and writing educational materials for more than 40 years. He brings this long history of teaching and course design into this integrated pre-university level multi-cultural school of music and sound.

Chih-Lin Chou, Vice-President, Accredited Music Therapist

Music Therapy Accredited, Master in Music Therapy. Her music therapy philosophy is humanistic, person-center approach, it helps people develop their capacities and simulates constructive change. She believes that without recognizing self and acknowledge the value of existence, it is not possible to achieve a positive perspective on life. Her music therapy approach is by listening, singing, and playing the client's favorite music or insturments, building the relationship with the clients through emotional supports and providing the musical
environment as a safe container to develop a positive self-growth. She applies Nordoff-Robbins creative music therapy, vocal improvisation therapy, and imergery of music therapy in her clinical works.

Chih-Lin Chou, Guzheng Performer, Piano instructor

Music educator, and the artistic director of the Canadian Association of Oriental Fine Arts (CAoFA) and the Gu-Zheng Ensemble of Montreal (GZEM). Since 2003, she has been working to present traditional and contemporary music to a mixed, but largely Chinese-Canadian audience in a concert environment. She has wished to find venues and ways of promoting a greater awareness of Chinese culture and the instrument, the guzheng, and this activity has found its fruits through her dedication to teaching, public performance, recording, commissioning of new pieces, and the on-going projects of the Oriented Towards Sound (OTS) and "Concerts inTime" concert series. she has been working with Royal Conservotory of Music (RCM) and the Beijing Central Conservatory

of Music (CCM), both for piano and Chinese Instrumental Performance Grade Examination to encourage local talented young Chinese musicians to develop their interest and to raise the professional quality of performance in and around Montreal. She is also the regional cordinator for CCM's annual examinations. Chih-Lin has incorporated the grade examinations into her piano and guzheng teaching, and various music therapy techniques in her piano lessons to young children.

Lydia Huang, Music Theory Instructor

Lydia is currently a PhD candidate in music theory at Temple University. She previously completed her Master's degree in music theory at McGill University and bachelor's degee in music theory at Western University. Durng her time at McGill and temple, she taught undergraduate-level music theory courses as a teaching asssistant. She also obtained her ARCT in piano performance with the Royal Conservotory of Music in 2014. Her doctoral research is on Chinese popular music, focusing on an danalyzing the zhongguofeng songs from the 2000s.

Yadong Guan, Pipa Performer

Hailing from Beijing, Yadong Guan is a true musical ambassador who masterfully commands the chinese pipa, offering audiences a truly exotic experience. Her exceptional contribution to the development of Chinese culture has won her

several prestigious accolades, including a ministerial prize, awarded at the UN World Women’s Conference in 1995. A prize by House of Commons Canada on her outstanding contribution to Canadian society in 2018. A gifted composer, Yadong Guan received the award of “The Best Original Score “for

the music of movie at the Moncton Film Festival 2010 ; An “Outstanding Artist, 2010” given by Toronto Fairchild TV and Talentvision TV. 2017, her composition <Grandma> has won her 

Gold metal from Chinese children’s song writing competitions held in

Beijing. In the same year, she and musician Liu Zhuomin established Chinese Canadien Children’s Choir of Canada (C5), the first children’s choir in Ottawa chinese community.

Yadong is living in Ottawa, she offers virtual pipa and music theory lessons.

Yang Li, Erhu Performer

Graduated from Nanjing University of the Arts, Major in erhu performance.

China 1st Class performer, member of Chinese Musician Association, Member of China Nationalities Orhrestra Society. Concertmaster and erhu solo of Chinese Orechtra of Jiangsu Wuxi. A guest professor at Jiangsu Normal University. She has produced a music program with Lyon TV Station which has won the praise from the City's mayor referring her to a cultural envoy for East & West. Her music has merged both the oriental and occidental cultures hence enhances the experience and diversity of erhu performance.
